About the School

Thanthwe 2 was opened after 18 months of building in September 2018. The school is the only government school in the village and serves to offer free accommodation to all the primary aged students in Chiwaya village and the surrounding area. The property is owned and built by YWAM Blantyre, a Christian religious trust based in Chigumula market, and the school is run and operated by the Ministry of Education. The school is one of 159 primary schools in the Blantyre Rural district. It offers Standard 1 through to Standard 8 classes following the Malawi Government curriculum.
